Visual merchandising is the arrangement of products and displays to help customers see how a collection fits together.
A window introduces a collection from the street. Inside the shop, the same pieces may need a different arrangement so customers can see the fabric, reach a size or understand how two garments are worn together. A buying team chooses what to carry. The person responsible for the display works with the assortment that is actually available and revises the presentation as pieces sell.
