Stock keeping unit: an internal identifier for a particular product variant, such as one size and colour.
A SKU is a code a business uses internally to distinguish an inventory item or product variant. Separate sizes or colours can therefore have separate SKUs, allowing stock quantities and sales to be tracked at that level. When the same variant is held in several locations, using the same SKU keeps its identity consistent across those locations. The code identifies the item being tracked, while the stock quantity records how many units are held. Duplicate codes for different variants can make inventory tracking ambiguous and require correction.

Le Labo’s Global Marketing Operations Coordinator role in London required monitoring collateral inventory and tracking SKU changes to maintain data integrity and minimise waste. This shows SKU information being maintained as inventory changes, with accurate item identification supporting the handling of marketing materials as well as saleable products.
