Replenishment is the replacement of stock that has sold or been used so the required quantity is available again.
A size can disappear from the shop floor while another unit is still in the stockroom. Putting that unit out restores availability for the next customer. If the shop has sold its last one, replenishment may require a transfer from another location or a further delivery. Counting the stock answers a different question from deciding which item, size or location needs a top-up.
