A diagram specifying where products should be placed on a fixture or shelf.
A planogram translates a proposed product display into instructions for placing merchandise on a shelf or fixture. It identifies where products belong and can show their facings, meaning the number of units presented across the front of the display. Teams use the diagram to communicate a planned arrangement and check that execution follows it. Changes to the product offer or a campaign may require the diagram to be updated. A planogram concerns placement within a display, while an assortment plan establishes which products the retailer intends to offer.
