Luxury Lexicon A definition

Omnichannel

Coordinating stores, websites and other sales channels so customers can move between them during a purchase or service request.

Omnichannel retail connects physical and digital channels so that a customer’s information and purchase journey can carry between them. A customer might buy online and collect in a store, or purchase in a store and arrange delivery. Supporting these journeys requires coordination between customer records, order handling and the teams responsible for service and fulfilment. Simply operating a website and a store does not establish that connection. The useful distinction is whether the retailer can retain relevant information and continue the transaction or service when the customer changes channels.
