Corporate social responsibility: how an organisation addresses its effects on people, society and the environment.
CSR connects a company’s decisions and activities with their consequences for people and the environment. Work can begin by identifying significant impacts, setting priorities and assigning responsibility for action. Each initiative needs processes, records and measures that show what has been delivered. The scope can include working conditions, community relationships and environmental impacts across operations and supply chains. A community initiative may form part of CSR, but it describes only one part of that wider responsibility. Specific activities and results make the term more useful than a general statement of corporate values.
