Luxury Lexicon A definition

Business intelligence

Turning business data into reports and analysis that support decisions.

Business intelligence brings together data from business systems, prepares it for analysis, and presents findings in reports or dashboards. Teams use these outputs to understand current performance and compare it with earlier periods or agreed measures. The work includes deciding which information matters, checking its quality, and making results understandable to the people taking decisions. A dashboard is one output of this process, while business intelligence also includes the preparation and reporting arrangements behind it. Its descriptive focus helps establish what has happened and what is happening now.
