BOPIS links an online purchase with collection at a physical store. The order enters a fulfilment process in which staff identify the required merchandise, prepare it and make it available for collection. Inventory information must reflect the order so that the same stock remains accurately represented across sales channels. Store teams also need a clear handover process when the customer arrives. This collection route differs from ship-from-store, where merchandise leaves a store for delivery. Click and collect is another name for the online purchase and collection service.
