An apprenticeship is a paid job in which someone learns an occupation through supervised work and structured training.
An apprentice practises the work of the occupation while studying the knowledge behind it. The employer provides a place to learn on the job, and the training has an agreed objective beyond completing the day’s tasks. A vacancy for an apprentice is therefore different from a vacancy asking for a completed apprenticeship. In the first, the person will learn the trade during the appointment. In the second, the employer is looking for evidence of training already undertaken.

Richemont advertised a two-year boutique assistant apprenticeship at Van Cleef & Arpels in London. The apprentice would support front-of-house activities and study customer service and communication. Working in the boutique and spending time away from it for specialist training were both part of the appointment. Search local jobs for “apprentice”.
