The Chief Steward aboard the British Pullman, a Belmond Train, leads the onboard team and supports exceptional food and beverage, housekeeping, guest satisfaction and team welfare. Responsibilities include coordinating carriage and guest-area setup, communicating across departments, welcoming guests, managing inventory and maintaining presentation standards.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ensure guest spaces, the lounge and the train are set according to the information supplied on function sheets.
- Maintain clear communication with the kitchen and all other departments.
- Meet guests on arrival and obtain their full details, including dietary needs and special occasions.
- Set and reset carriages when required and possible, and keep the train presentable at all times.
- Build rapport with guests at every opportunity, particularly by meeting and greeting VIPs and regular guests and going the extra mile for returning guests.
- Manage inventory stock levels for daily operations and maintain appropriate PAR levels.
- Lead the onboard team and support the delivery of exceptional service across food and beverage, housekeeping, guest satisfaction and team welfare.
Qualifications
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Relevant management or field- or industry-related diploma or degree.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate others.
- Customer service skills and experience resolving customer issues or complaints.
- Good knowledge and understanding of food and wine.

1–2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in luxury hospitality.
Education
Relevant management or field- or industry-related diploma or degree.
